Grateful for Gradual
Honestly, I don’t know what I would do without gradual. When my firstborn was an infant, I tried to imagine how I would ever entrust her to a kindergarten teacher.
Then by the time she was in kindergarten, I had gained the confidence that she would be okay. That was the year I attended a lecture at a local library about teens and sex, wanting to learn everything I could to guide my child through the unthinkable.
It helped that I started early desensitizing myself to teen sex. But how would I eventually let her go in a car with a 16-year-old boy, given that I didn’t even like for her go in a car with her father who was in his thirties?
Now the worry is starting all over again with fears about grandchildren, even though there is not a molecule of a grandchild on the horizon.
Like I said, I’m grateful for gradual.
What ruminations do you have about the distant future?
